Tampa Bay Training works with the client to design a class based on several key principles of professional ethics for individuals working in local government, public works, utilities, construction, and engineering:

  1. Safety, Health, and Welfare of the Public: Professionals in these fields must prioritize the safety, health, and welfare of the public. Their decision and actions should always aim to protect people and their communities.
  2. Competence: Professionals should only provide services in areas where they have the necessary expertise. They must not take on tasks beyond their competence and should continually enhance their knowledge and skills.
  3. Honesty and Integrity: Honesty, impartiality, fairness, and equity are essential. Professionals should avoid deceptive acts and issue public statements truthfully and objectively.
  4. Faithful Agents or Trustees: When working for an employer or client, professionals should act as faithful agents, always acting in their best interests.
  5. Avoiding Unlawful Practices: Professionals should not engage in fraudulent or dishonest activities. They must not aid or abet the unlawful practice of their profession.
  6. Coordination and Responsibility: Engineers may coordinate entire projects, but each technical segment should be signed and sealed only by qualified engineers who prepared that segment.
