Standard Operating Procedures for Construction Management

Turn Important Construction Processes into Clear, Repeatable Practice

Construction work depends on decisions and handoffs among project managers, field supervisors, inspectors, administrative staff, contractors, consultants and owners. When responsibilities and procedures are unclear, documentation gaps, delays and inconsistent practices become more likely.

This course helps participants evaluate construction-management workflows and organize them into practical standard operating procedures that employees can understand, use and maintain.

Four-hour version: $125 per participant
Eight-hour version: $200 per participant
Delivery: Onsite only
Private-class minimum: Seven-participant billing minimum
Maximum class size: 20 participants
Knowledge check: 20–25 multiple-choice questions; 70% required
Completion document: Tampa Bay Training certificate with no expiration
Participant handbook: Available

Clients may provide existing procedures, forms or workflows when they can be shared and reviewed appropriately.

Four-Hour and Eight-Hour Formats

The four-hour course introduces SOP structure, process mapping, roles, document control and implementation. Participants complete one guided SOP-development exercise.

The eight-hour course adds a more detailed workflow review, multiple drafting and evaluation exercises, implementation scenarios, facilitated role-play and an action plan for improving a selected procedure.

Assessment and Certificate

Participants must attend, actively participate, complete the applicable SOP activity and earn at least 70% on a 20- to 25-question multiple-choice knowledge check.

Successful participants receive a Tampa Bay Training certificate showing four or eight instructional hours. The certificate has no expiration date.

Training Versus SOP Development

The course teaches a repeatable process for creating and maintaining SOPs. It does not include delivery of a completed, approved client SOP.

Tampa Bay Training may separately provide process facilitation, procedure development, document review or implementation support. Those services are quoted based on scope and time. The client remains responsible for technical accuracy, internal approvals, legal or regulatory review and final adoption.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can we bring one of our existing SOPs?

Yes. Existing SOPs, checklists and forms can make the exercises more relevant when they can be shared appropriately and provided before class.

Will the class produce a finished SOP?

The class helps participants begin or evaluate a procedure, but producing a complete client-ready SOP is a separate consulting engagement unless expressly included in the written scope.

Is the course limited to private construction companies?

No. It is appropriate for local government, public works, utilities, contractors, consultants and other organizations managing construction processes.

Does completing the course make our procedures compliant?

No. Training supports better procedure development but does not replace review of the organization's actual operations, contracts, risks and applicable requirements.

Registration and Private Scheduling
