Best for organizations
A dedicated instructor works with your employees, assigned machine, operating environment, and schedule at an appropriate Florida location.
When a qualified host opens seats
Individuals or small groups may join only when a scheduled host has suitable equipment, site controls, and space for public participation.
Equipment scope
The final scope is confirmed before scheduling. Each machine, attachment, and work environment may have different controls, hazards, limitations, and manufacturer instructions. The proposal and completion records identify what was actually covered.
Participants must follow the employer's rules and the manufacturer's current instructions for the specific machine used.
Core Backhoe Loader topics
Complete training process
Machine fundamentals, manufacturer controls and limits, inspections, stability, struck-by and caught-between hazards, work-zone controls, and safe operating practices.
A 20-question examination requires at least 14 correct answers (70%) and checks understanding of the concepts addressed during instruction.
Participants practice inspection, mounting, control familiarization, travel, positioning, digging or loading movements, shutdown, and parking under instructor supervision.
The instructor observes each participant operating the assigned machine in a controlled, representative environment.
Host responsibilities
The client or host supplies a safe, operational backhoe loader that represents the participant's assignment. The instructor may postpone, modify, or limit practical operation when the machine, attachments, surfaces, weather, PPE, or practice area are unsuitable.
Reasonable accommodation requests are coordinated through Customer Service. Practical safety and essential operating-evaluation requirements still apply.

Refresher and retraining
TBT recommends a three-year review cycle. That recommendation should not be presented as a universal OSHA expiration date.
An accident, near miss, or other event may show that additional instruction or evaluation is needed.
Unsafe operation or demonstrated knowledge or skill deficiencies call for prompt correction and retraining.
New controls, equipment types, attachments, or substantially different designs may require additional preparation.
Different terrain, traffic, overhead hazards, weather, tasks, or workplace conditions may change the training need.
