Florida’s rainfall, development patterns, construction activity, and interconnected water resources make stormwater management an important responsibility for both public- and private-sector organizations.
Stormwater runoff can carry sediment, debris, oils, chemicals, nutrients, and other pollutants into storm drains, canals, lakes, rivers, wetlands, estuaries, and coastal waters. Construction and land-disturbing activities can create additional risks when soils are exposed or when erosion and sediment controls are not properly selected, installed, inspected, or maintained.
The Florida Stormwater, Erosion, and Sedimentation Control Inspector program is intended to teach and qualify participants to conduct stormwater inspections at construction and development sites. The program addresses proper best management practice selection, installation, layering, maintenance, restoration, and inspection. FDEP
