Participants do not need prior OSHA Outreach training to attend the standalone FSL course.
Participants examine the costs of ineffective safety leadership and the benefits of leadership practices that contribute to a stronger safety climate.
Core leadership skills include:
Participants apply the skills to workplace scenarios and consider how their leadership choices can affect communication, worker involvement, hazard reporting, and safe job performance.
Foundations for Safety Leadership was developed by CPWR—The Center for Construction Research and Training. OSHA approved the program as an elective topic within the OSHA 30-Hour Construction Outreach course.
Tampa Bay Training also offers FSL as a standalone four-hour course. Completing the standalone course provides a Tampa Bay Training certificate of completion. It does not provide an OSHA 10-Hour or 30-Hour student course completion card.
Open-enrollment classes are appropriate for individuals and smaller groups. Tampa Bay Training intends to hold every advertised FSL class rather than canceling it merely because enrollment is low.
Classes may be conducted onsite at a published location or through live online instruction.
Private FSL training allows supervisors and team leaders from the same organization to work through shared leadership challenges and relevant workplace scenarios.
If fewer than seven participants attend, the base training fee is still calculated for seven.

The live online class is scheduled and instructor-led. It is not a self-paced recording.

Participants who complete the course receive a Tampa Bay Training certificate of completion. The certificate does not expire.
An employer may establish its own refresher or continuing-training expectations based on organizational needs, job responsibilities, incidents, or changes in workplace policies.
No. FSL is a safety leadership program. It is approved as an elective within the OSHA 30-Hour Construction Outreach course, but the standalone class produces a Tampa Bay Training certificate rather than an OSHA student course completion card.
No. There are no OSHA 10-Hour or 30-Hour prerequisites for the standalone course.
No. The leadership skills are also relevant to public works, utilities, infrastructure organizations, engineering operations, and other workplaces where frontline leaders influence safe work.
Yes. Private classes may incorporate relevant examples and discussion while maintaining the program's learning objectives.
Yes. Tampa Bay Training offers scheduled live online instruction. Participants must use a laptop or desktop with a functioning camera and microphone and participate throughout the class.
No. The Tampa Bay Training certificate of completion does not expire.
