Leadership is more than position or personality. Effective leaders connect people to purpose, make sound decisions, communicate through uncertainty and create conditions in which employees can perform.

This course draws on real public-sector, public works, utility, construction and management experience while remaining applicable to other employers.

Four-hour version: $125 per participant
Eight-hour version: $200 per participant
Delivery: Onsite or live online
Private-class minimum: Seven-participant billing minimum
Maximum class size: 20 participants
Knowledge check: 20–25 multiple-choice questions; 70% required
Completion document: Tampa Bay Training certificate with no expiration
Optional handbook: $10

Four-Hour and Eight-Hour Formats

The four-hour version focuses on core leadership concepts, guided discussion, a leadership scenario and a practical self-assessment.

The eight-hour version adds multiple scenarios, role-play, change-leadership practice, stakeholder analysis and an individual leadership-development action plan.

  • Budget and staffing limitations
  • Emergency operations and continuity

Private-sector examples may be substituted for clients outside government.


Assessment and Certificate

Participants must attend, participate, complete the practical activity and earn at least 70% on the 20- to 25-question knowledge check.

Successful participants receive a Tampa Bay Training certificate of completion showing the instructional hours. The certificate does not expire.


Coaching and Consulting

Individual leadership assessment, executive coaching, team coaching, succession planning and customized leadership-development programs are available as separately scoped services.

Live Online Participation

Live online participants must use a desktop or laptop computer with a stable internet connection and working camera, microphone and speakers. Mobile phones are not accepted as the primary device. Each participant must remain visible and engaged and complete their own activities and knowledge check.


Frequently Asked Questions

Is this a motivational seminar?

No. The course is interactive and encouraging, but its purpose is practical leadership development tied to observable workplace behavior.

Can senior leaders and new supervisors attend together?

Yes, although the client should discuss the audience with TBT so scenarios and expectations can be set appropriately.

Can the course address our organizational values?

Yes. Provide values, leadership expectations or strategic priorities before the class.
