Florida Regional Planning Councils

The Florida Regional Planning Councils are multi-purpose organizations. These are public organizations that bring together the State of Florida’s local governments, empowering them to share responsibility for Florida’s future.

Each Regional Planning Council is a bridge between state and local governments, representing areas with common resources, characteristics and problems. The Regional Planning Council is made up of members from the counties and local governments located within the area’s planning districts and Governor’s Commissioners representing the state.

Both state and local governments often rely on  regional planning councils to provide assistance in the areas of economic development, emergency planning, and transportation.
