This foundational program combines the former Management and Supervision and Introduction to Supervision, Management and Leadership courses into one practical development path.

No previous management training is required.

Four-Hour Version

The four-hour course provides:

• Core supervision, management and leadership concepts
• Discussion of the individual-contributor-to-supervisor transition
• One primary scenario or role-play
• A practical self-assessment or development activity
• Knowledge check

Eight-Hour Version

The eight-hour course adds:

• Multiple supervisory scenarios
• Expanded delegation and decision-making practice
• Communication and feedback role-play
• Team, conflict and performance-management connections
• Workplace application exercises
• Individual leadership-development action plan

Assessment and Certificate

Successful completion requires:

• Full attendance
• Active participation
• Completion of the assigned practical activity
• At least 70% on the 20- to 25-question multiple-choice knowledge check

Successful participants receive a Tampa Bay Training certificate of completion showing four or eight instructional hours. The certificate does not expire.

Customization

The client may provide organizational values, supervisory expectations, policies, job descriptions or common workplace situations. The instructor will incorporate appropriate material while preserving the course objectives.

Development of a complete supervisory program, competency framework, assessment process or coaching plan is a separate consulting engagement.

Live Online Participation

Live online participants must use a desktop or laptop computer with a stable internet connection and working camera, microphone and speakers. Mobile phones are not accepted as the primary device. Each participant must remain visible and engaged and complete their own activities and knowledge check.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this course only for new supervisors?

No. It is especially useful for new supervisors, but experienced leaders can use it to refresh fundamentals and create a shared management vocabulary.

Is Leadership Development a different course?

Yes. This course establishes the broad foundation. Leadership Development goes deeper into influence, judgment, accountability, organizational culture and leading through change.

Does the course provide a professional management certification?

No. It provides a Tampa Bay Training certificate documenting successful course completion.
