Supervision, Management & Leadership Training

Practical Development for the People Responsible for People and Results

Technical knowledge may prepare an employee to perform the work, but supervising others requires a different set of skills. New and experienced leaders must communicate expectations, build trust, allocate resources, address performance, make decisions and connect daily work to the organization's mission.

Tampa Bay Training provides instructor-led professional development grounded in the realities of Florida local government, public works, utilities and infrastructure operations. The same practical skills transfer to construction, engineering, private employers and other organizations.

Four-Hour and Eight-Hour Options

The four-hour version introduces the course's core concepts and includes guided discussion, a practical activity or scenario and a knowledge check.

The eight-hour version provides deeper instruction, multiple scenarios, role-play, expanded workplace application and an individual or team action plan.

Both versions require attendance, active participation, completion of the assigned practical activity and a score of at least 70% on a 20- to 25-question multiple-choice knowledge check.

Private Training for Your Organization

Private training allows a department or organization to discuss situations relevant to its work, employees, policies and operating environment. The client and instructor confirm the course length, audience, priorities and appropriate level of customization before delivery.

Private classes have a seven-participant billing minimum and a maximum of 20 participants.

  • Four-hour minimum private invoice: $875
  • Eight-hour minimum private invoice: $1,400

Travel or unusual facility requirements may affect the final quote.

Selected Public Open Enrollment

Tampa Bay Training may advertise selected onsite or live online professional-development classes through Eventbrite. An advertised class will be held even if only one participant registers.

Not every course is continuously available for individual registration. Review Eventbrite for current opportunities.

Active, Workplace-Focused Learning

Every course includes:

  • Instructor presentation
  • Facilitated discussion
  • Role-play
  • Group activities
  • Workplace-relevant scenarios
  • A practical activity or application
  • A 20- to 25-question multiple-choice knowledge check

The objective is not simply to hear about a management concept. Participants should leave prepared to apply a specific skill, decision process, communication method or planning tool at work.

Certificates

Participants who meet the attendance and participation requirements, complete the practical activity and earn at least 70% on the knowledge check receive a Tampa Bay Training certificate of completion showing the instructional hours.

TBT certificates in this section do not expire. An employer, professional association, contract or internal policy may establish its own continuing-development expectations.

Respectful Workplace participants receive both a J. J. Keller certificate and a Tampa Bay Training certificate.
