Strategic planning helps an organization make deliberate choices about where it is going, what it will prioritize and how progress will be measured. A useful plan must connect community and stakeholder needs to realistic goals, resources, ownership and implementation.
This course introduces a practical planning process suited to local government, public works, utilities and infrastructure organizations.
Four-hour version: $125 per participant
Eight-hour version: $200 per participant

Knowledge check: 20–25 multiple-choice questions; 70% required
Completion document: Tampa Bay Training certificate with no expiration

The four-hour version introduces the planning process and includes a stakeholder, priority or goal-setting exercise.
The eight-hour version adds expanded environmental analysis, facilitated prioritization, measure development and a draft implementation or action-planning exercise.
The course teaches participants how strategic planning works. It does not include development of the client's final strategic plan.

Successful completion requires attendance, participation, completion of the planning activity and at least 70% on the knowledge check.
Participants receive a Tampa Bay Training certificate showing four or eight instructional hours.
Live online participants must use a desktop or laptop computer with a stable internet connection and working camera, microphone and speakers. Mobile phones are not accepted as the primary device. Each participant must remain visible and engaged and complete their own activities and knowledge check.
No. This is a training course. Development of an organizational plan requires a separately defined scope, stakeholders, process, schedule and deliverables.
Yes. Provide the plan in advance so the instructor can select appropriate examples and activities.
Yes. The process can be applied at organizational, department, division, program or team level.
