Help employees prepare to act when a medical emergency or potential exposure occurs. Tampa Bay Training provides instructor-led HSI CPR, AED, First Aid and Bloodborne Pathogens training for local government, public works, utilities, construction, infrastructure and other Florida organizations.
Most classes are private and scheduled for an employer's team. Limited public enrollment is available when a client or host opens a class to individuals and smaller groups.
| Course | Designed for | Delivery | Length | Price | HSI certification |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| CPR, AED and First Aid | Employees expected to recognize and respond to common medical emergencies | Private onsite; limited public onsite classes | Based on selected certification options; up to 8 hours | $90/person | Two years |
| Bloodborne Pathogens | Employees who may have occupational exposure to blood or other potentially infectious materials | Private onsite or live online; limited public classes | 2 hours | $60/person | One year |
This hands-on course prepares participants to recognize an emergency, activate emergency medical services, perform CPR, use an automated external defibrillator and provide appropriate first aid until professional help arrives.
Adult-only certification is the most common choice. Adult, child and infant options are available based on the organization's needs. CPR/AED-only or First Aid-only training may also be arranged by request at the same $90 per-participant rate.
CPR, AED and First Aid training is conducted onsite. Participants complete separate multiple-choice examinations for CPR/AED and First Aid and demonstrate the required hands-on skills.

Bloodborne Pathogens training helps employees understand how occupational exposure can occur and how engineering controls, work-practice controls, personal protective equipment and exposure-response procedures help reduce risk.
The two-hour course may be conducted onsite or through live online instruction. It can be scheduled separately or added to CPR, AED and First Aid training.
The course includes a multiple-choice examination and provides a one-year HSI certification upon successful completion.

Private training allows employees to learn together and discuss situations relevant to their work. Tampa Bay Training coordinates the certification options, schedule, instructor staffing, equipment and facility needs before the class.
Private classes have a seven-participant billing minimum and a maximum of 20 participants. If fewer than seven people attend, the organization is still billed for seven.
CPR, AED and First Aid private classes are onsite only. Bloodborne Pathogens private classes may be onsite or live online.
Open-enrollment seats are offered when a client or host chooses to make a class available to the public. This provides a path for individuals and smaller organizations, but public classes are not continuously scheduled.

These HSI courses may be appropriate for:
No previous medical experience is required. The employer or participant should confirm which certification option is required for the person's job, license, contract or workplace policy.
CPR, AED and First Aid participants practice with training manikins, AED training units, barriers and other course equipment. Skills are observed and evaluated by an instructor.
Tampa Bay Training may assign two instructors and additional equipment based on enrollment and the selected certification options. The maximum class size is 20.
Bloodborne Pathogens is instructor-led and includes an opportunity for questions. Live online Bloodborne Pathogens classes are scheduled sessions, not self-paced recordings.
For CPR, AED and First Aid training, the host provides:
Tampa Bay Training provides the training manikins, AED training units, bag-valve-mask equipment, barriers, cleaning supplies and other instructional equipment. If the host does not have a suitable display or projector, Tampa Bay Training can bring one when arranged in advance.
Participants who complete the applicable attendance, examination and skill requirements receive the HSI certification associated with their selected course.
CPR, AED and First Aid certification includes physical skill demonstrations, including practice at floor level. Contact Cindy before registering if you need an accommodation or want to discuss the physical requirements. Tampa Bay Training will discuss reasonable access options while preserving the applicable HSI skill-performance and certification requirements.
No. Tampa Bay Training conducts this certification training onsite because participants must practice and demonstrate hands-on skills.
Yes, those options may be arranged by request. The price remains $90 per participant. Tampa Bay Training's primary advertised course combines CPR, AED and First Aid.
Yes. It may be scheduled with CPR, AED and First Aid or taken as a separate two-hour course. Cindy will confirm the agenda and complete price.
An individual may register when a host opens seats in a scheduled public class. Check Eventbrite for current availability. Private classes have a seven-participant billing minimum.
The course can support an employer's training program, but training is only one part of the OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens standard. Employers remain responsible for determining coverage and addressing applicable requirements such as an exposure-control plan, site-specific procedures, controls, vaccination, post-exposure follow-up and records.
HSI certification is issued digitally by default. A paper card must be selected at registration so it can be ordered in advance.
