OSHA establishes required topics, elective categories, and minimum instructional times. Electives and examples may be selected to reflect the audience's work and hazards while remaining within OSHA's curriculum requirements.
The OSHA 30-Hour Construction course requires at least 30 student contact hours. OSHA limits Outreach training to a maximum of 7.5 student contact hours per calendar day, so the course must be conducted over at least four calendar days.
Tampa Bay Training normally schedules the course over four full training days. Breaks, meals, attendance, and administrative activities do not count toward the required 30 instructional hours.
Participants must attend the entire course and complete all requirements to qualify for an OSHA student course completion card.
Open-enrollment classes are appropriate for individuals and smaller groups. Classes may be conducted onsite at a published location or through live online instruction.
OSHA generally requires at least three students in an Outreach class. Tampa Bay Training does not cancel an advertised class merely because enrollment is less profitable, but OSHA's minimum class-size requirement must be met unless an applicable exception is granted.

Live online OSHA Outreach classes are available subject to required advance coordination with our OSHA Training Institute Education Center.
After the class, Tampa Bay Training submits the required documentation and card request through the University of South Florida OSHA Training Institute Education Center. USF sends the cards to Tampa Bay Training, and Tampa Bay Training then distributes them to the client or student.
The process typically takes several weeks, although processing and delivery times may vary.
OSHA student course completion cards do not expire. An employer, union, jurisdiction, project owner, or contract may impose its own retraining or recent-card requirement.
The OSHA Outreach Training Program is voluntary. The OSHA 30-Hour Construction course provides safety and health information and education, but it does not fulfill an employer's obligation to provide training required by a particular OSHA standard.
The OSHA student course completion card is not a certification or license. Completing this course does not authorize a participant to teach OSHA Outreach classes.
