Prerequisite and Eligibility Requirements

Current Advanced TTC Certification

The participant must hold an unexpired FDOT Advanced TTC certification. A current Intermediate certification does not satisfy the prerequisite for the Advanced Refresher.

Certification Must Remain Current Through the Examination

The certification must remain valid on the examination date. Registering for a refresher class does not pause, extend, or renew the existing certification.

Bring Certification Documentation

The TTC Administrator instructs refresher participants to provide a physical copy of their current TTC certificate to the provider or instructor for verification.

Register Early

The TTC Administrator recommends registering for refresher training at least 30 days before expiration. Course availability, the examination date, and result-processing time can affect renewal.

Verify Before Registering

Participants should verify their certification status before paying for a refresher class.

TTC/MOT Administrator and Certificate Verification

If the status or expiration date is unclear, contact Cindy before registering.

Attendance, Participation, and Examination Requirements

Complete Attendance

Participants must attend the entire course. Late arrival, early departure, loss of required online participation, or failure to complete required activities may prevent the participant from taking the examination or earning renewed certification.

Class Exercises

Participants must successfully complete the applicable refresher-course exercises and activities.

Written Examination

- 60 multiple-choice questions
- Up to 2 hours
- Minimum passing score of 70%
- Administered under approved proctoring and examination-security procedures
- Graded by the TTC Administrator

FDOT TTC written examinations are administered in English. Oral administration of the written examination is not permitted.

Examination Integrity

Participants may not copy, photograph, record, write down, retain, or share examination questions. All proctor and examination-security instructions must be followed.

If a Participant Does Not Pass

A failing examination grade requires the participant to retake the same Advanced Refresher course before retesting.

Because certification expiration can affect refresher eligibility, a participant who does not pass should contact Cindy promptly to discuss the available next step.

Identification, Technology, and Class Preparation

Every Participant Should Have:

- Valid state-issued or federal-issued photo identification
- A physical copy of the current Advanced TTC certificate
- An accurate legal name matching the identification and TTC record
- A working individual email address
- Any course materials and supplies identified in the class instructions

If Identification Information Has Changed

Contact Cindy before class if the participant's driver's license, identification number, legal name, or other TTC record has changed. Additional TTC Administrator documentation may be required before the grade can be processed.

Live-Online Participants

Each participant needs:

- A computer or laptop suitable for the approved virtual class
- Reliable internet service
- A working camera and microphone
- A quiet location appropriate for continuous participation and testing
- The ability to receive and use class materials

Mobile phones and tablets should not be used as the participant's primary class or testing device unless the specific class instructions expressly allow them.

Participants must remain visible, engaged, and available throughout the scheduled class and examination, subject to the approved course procedures.

Onsite Participants

Follow the provided location, parking, arrival, identification, room-access, and material instructions. Private onsite hosts must provide the agreed classroom and facility support.

Successful Completion Requires:

- Holding the required current Advanced certification
- Completing the required instruction
- Satisfying attendance and participation requirements
- Completing applicable class exercises
- Earning a written-examination score of 70% or higher

Official Documentation

After successful processing, the participant can access:

- Official FDOT PDF certificate

The TTC Administrator—not Tampa Bay Training—grades the examination and issues the official results and certification record.

Participants are responsible for monitoring their certification status, retaining their records, and providing a copy to their employer when required.
