FDOT Temporary Traffic Control training records

PDH/CEU Documentation for FDOT TTC Training

FDOT Temporary Traffic Control qualification and professional continuing education are two separate records. FDOT does not automatically award Professional Development Hours for completing a TTC course.

For selected Tampa Bay Training FDOT TTC classes, separate PDH/CEU documentation may be available upon request. Availability, the number and type of hours, and acceptance by a licensing or credentialing organization must be confirmed for the specific class.

Two records with different purposes

FDOT Qualification Is Not the Same as Continuing-Education Credit

A participant may receive an official TTC qualification record after meeting FDOT course and assessment requirements. That record does not, by itself, document professional continuing-education credit.

Official TTC record

FDOT TTC Qualification Certificate

The TTC/MOT Program Administrator processes official results and qualification records after successful completion of the applicable course requirements.

  • Documents the applicable FDOT TTC qualification level
  • Issued and verified through the TTC/MOT Program Administrator
  • Subject to FDOT course, examination, and qualification requirements
  • Separate from any professional continuing-education record

Professional education record

PDH/CEU Certificate of Attendance

When continuing-education documentation is available for a specific Tampa Bay Training class, it is prepared as a separate record for the participant.

  • Documents eligible instructional contact time for the specific class
  • Includes participant, course, presenter, date, and credit information
  • Does not replace the official FDOT TTC qualification certificate
  • Does not guarantee acceptance by a licensing or credentialing organization

Ask Cindy About Documentation

FDOT's current policy is explicit.

Professional Development Hours are not automatically provided. If PDH documentation is available, it is provided separately from the TTC certificate. Do not assume that course duration, examination time, breaks, or the official TTC certificate automatically equal an approved number of professional-development hours.

Participant action steps

How to Request PDH/CEU Documentation

Complete these steps when professional credit is important to your registration decision or employer records.

  1. Confirm Availability Before Registering

Contact Cindy with the exact FDOT TTC course, class date, delivery format, and profession or license involved. Do not rely on a general statement about another class or provider.

  2. Provide Accurate Participant Information

Provide the participant's full name as it should appear on the document. Florida Professional Engineers should also provide their PE license number before the certificate is prepared.

  3. Complete the Entire Class

Attend and participate for the complete eligible instructional period and complete all applicable course exercises, identity checks, and assessments. Attendance alone does not establish FDOT qualification.

  4. Request the Separate Certificate

Ask Tampa Bay Training for the applicable PDH/CEU documentation. The continuing-education certificate is not generated or issued by the TTC/MOT Program Administrator.

  5. Retain and Report Your Record

Keep the document for your records and follow the reporting process required by your licensing board, credentialing organization, employer, or other authority.

Information for Florida Professional Engineers

Florida PE Documentation & Reporting

Florida Professional Engineers are responsible for determining whether an activity satisfies their continuing-education requirements and for maintaining the required documentation.

Before the Certificate Is Prepared

  • Confirm that PDH documentation is available for the specific class.
  • Provide your full participant name and Florida PE license number.
  • Confirm the course title, date, delivery format, and presenter information.
  • Ask questions before registration if acceptance is essential to your decision.

After the Class

  • Review the certificate promptly and request a correction if required information is missing or inaccurate.
  • Report applicable continuing education through the current process required by the Florida Board of Professional Engineers.
  • Retain the certificate and supporting documentation for the required record-retention period.
  • Keep the continuing-education record separate from the official FDOT TTC qualification certificate.
Acceptance is not guaranteed. Tampa Bay Training can provide course and attendance documentation when applicable, but the licensing board—not Tampa Bay Training, FDOT, or the TTC/MOT Program Administrator—determines whether a participant may claim the activity for a particular renewal requirement.

Other licenses, credentials, and employer records

CEU Questions for Other Professions

The terms PDH, CEU, contact hour, continuing education, and professional-development credit are not interchangeable for every profession or credential.

Contact the Appropriate Authority

Before registering, ask the licensing board, credentialing organization, employer, contract administrator, or other authority whether the specific course and provider documentation will be accepted.

Request a Course Information Sheet

Cindy can help identify the course title, delivery format, scheduled instructional time, topic, presenter, and available documentation so you can submit an informed question to the appropriate authority.

Do Not Assume a Conversion

A general mathematical conversion between CEUs, PDHs, and contact hours does not establish that a regulator will accept a class. Use the terminology and calculation rules required by your profession.

Keep Your Own Records

Retain the certificate, agenda or course description, receipt, and any written acceptance guidance you receive. Follow the retention and reporting rules that apply to your license or credential.

Documentation May Depend on the Specific Course & Class

Ask about the exact class you plan to attend. Delivery format does not make professional credit automatic, and none of Tampa Bay Training's FDOT TTC courses are self-paced.

Common questions

PDH/CEU Frequently Asked Questions

Is PDH credit automatically included with every FDOT TTC class?

No. FDOT states that PDHs are not automatically provided. Confirm documentation availability for the specific Tampa Bay Training course and class before registering if credit is important.

Does my official FDOT TTC certificate also serve as my PDH certificate?

No. The official TTC qualification certificate and a professional continuing-education certificate are separate records issued for different purposes.

How many PDHs or CEUs will I receive?

Do not calculate credit from the advertised course length alone. The amount and type of documentation depend on the specific class, eligible instructional contact time, profession, and applicable requirements. Ask Cindy for written confirmation.

Can live-online FDOT TTC classes receive documentation?

Documentation may be available for selected live-online Intermediate, Intermediate Refresher, Advanced, and Advanced Refresher classes. Availability still must be confirmed for the specific class. Flagger training is onsite only.

Will Tampa Bay Training report my Florida PE credit for me?

Florida PEs currently report most continuing-education activities through NCEES CPC Tracking. Unless Tampa Bay Training tells you otherwise in writing for a specific regulatory requirement, the participant is responsible for reporting the activity and retaining the supporting certificate.

What if my licensing board does not accept the course?

Tampa Bay Training cannot override a regulator's decision or guarantee acceptance. If credit is essential, obtain guidance from the appropriate authority before registering and keep a copy of that guidance.
